I wasn't trying to discredit your statements, I was trying to make you face the facts. That you due lack of experience (or other shortcomings) can't get girls to talk to you. However, you are saying that girls talk to you but you don't want them (if I understood correctly your posts), which in my book doesn't make you love shy ... just picky.

Dating is hard work... no question for the shy guys and gals out there. I'm sorry that you've had some really rotten experiences... what you posted sounded awful. "free meal, wtf?!?" I would have walked right there. I prefer the first meeting to be just that - a meeting. Not a date. A Meet. Coffee and that's it. I will arrive early (about 1/2 hour) and get myself a tea and read. Yes I don't want to offend anyone, but more importantly I had to really learn how to be true to myself. I (try) to keep a positive attitude and relax. That's still hard for me now.

Lots of guys look at my profile too, and most of them don't message me either. I totally get that. I know that what guys are looking for and what gals are looking for are different. I have to remind myself that they are just looking.

I not 100% sure but I think that I'm the only woman on this thread. I'm on OKCupid because I'm shy and my work and school don't get me out to meet a lot of new people. If someone believes that all the woman are mean, selfish and self-centred, I'm sure that they will find lots of evidence to support that. Stranger1983 - remember... you only have to find one that makes you smile like you make her smile... only one.

Yep, that's the truth. Even if you think, "Ok, so maybe I've been messaging women that are a little out of my reach so I'll lower my standards." It still doesn't work. You'll actually be like "wtf?" because you'll start messaging women you think that if you met offline you would at least get a date, but online they fucking ignore you.

It gets to the point where you think if I randomly asked X amount of women, where X is the number you messaged online, to go on a date there's no way in hell all of them would say no.

While dating is hard, I don't think anyone would say that it's reasonable that someone spend the equivalent of a couple months, timewise continuously, to get a date.

Okcupid and pof have destroyed my self esteem. I send out so many messages to women who I think I'll get along with but no matter how thoughtfully I craft a message, it never gets a responce. I've been attempting to find a gf for the last three years online...nothing.

Too bad you don't live in southern Wisconsin, my brothers neighbor is a lesbian she's quite butch (actually thought she was a guy when I first say her) But she's real nice.

Never understood the big kerfuffle over that, especially if they cheat on you with a member of their own sex. Doesn't bother me none, and I can't blame being attracted to chicks, cause they are soft and pretty. One of the few sexual partners I had was bi, and she was probably one of the nicest girls to ever interact with me, so maybe I'm biased.
