A father shot dead a young couple after allegedly becoming upset that they deleted his daughter on Facebook.

Marvin Potter, 60, has been charged with the first degree murders of Billy Payne Jr, 36, and his 23-year-old girlfriend Billie Jean Hayworth, police said today.

Miss Hayworth's eight-month-old baby was found unharmed in her arms at their Mountain City home in Tennessee.

Both victims had been shot in the head and Mr Payne had his throat cut, according to Timesnews.net.

The victims had complained to police that Jenelle Potter, 30, was harassing them after they deleted her as a friend on the social networking site, according to Sheriff Mike Reece.

The sheriff said: 'It's a senseless thing.'

Yay for Facebook.

Wealth and power are means to women; women are means to genetic eternity.

Likewise, deep in the mind of modern woman is the same hunter-gatherer calculator, too recently evolved to have changed much: strive to acquire a provider husband who will invest food and care in your children; strive to find a lover who can give those children first-class genes. Only if she is very lucky will they both be the same man . . . Men are to be exploited as providers of parental care, wealth and genes." - Matt Ridley "The Red Queen"

"Humor won’t save you; it doesn’t really do anything at all. You can look at life ironically for years, maybe decades; there are people who seem to go through most of their lives seeing the funny side, but in the end, life always breaks your heart. Doesn’t matter how brave you are, how reserved, or how much you’ve developed a sense of humor, you still end up with your heart broken. That’s when you stop laughing. In the end there’s just the cold, the silence and the loneliness. In the end, there’s only death." - Houellebecq

This has little to do with facebook or the internet. It's about general human pettiness and stupidity.

True. Technology is only the scapegoat here. People are always eager to blame violent video games, facebook, guns, movies etc. because they think that they can then have control over how people will act by controlling those elements. But the truth is that people will still do stupid shit even without those mediums (and then society will probably blame it on something else).

That's just tragic.

And another reason why people wish to take guns away from citizens, who don't use them like this man did.

You have that right. I've no use for Facebook at all.

Me too about two years ago. Life got a little better. FB to the LS can be a poison and such a drain on our frail egos at times. At first, I DID miss it...after a few months. No need for it. FB=a waste of a lot of time

Not really sure why I have facebook. It doesn't help you getting a job especially if you are not careful or mindful of things you post. I use it to keep in touch with my two and only best friends. Beats a long distance phone call and they can post pictures of stuff that I can relate to.

I know it's been said before, but the more friends one has on there the more narcissistic he or she is. I have 2 friends and 68 acquaintances; and that took almost seven years to get.

I'm glad there isn't a world record for 'absolutely most retarded reason to kill someone ever' because some of these murderers seem almost as if they are intending to win it.

Facebook can be good for social networking, but as a friendship tool, it is useless. I find myself posting random shit on there most of the time.

Same here. I end up posting random crap that no one else reads anyway, because I have no life

In an economics class, the teacher told us about a guy that beat his roomie up over the head with the phone as he called 911 for eating his pickles (again). Said he ripped the whole phone out of the wall and did a beat down. Stop eating my food. Don't you call the police when I get mad about it.
