I watched The Plague Dogs for the first time in nearly 20 years the other day, and by the end I felt the tears welling up but they wouldn't come out. That's the first time I've 'cried' in seven or eight years.

I used to during childhood. Now I just can't.
I think it is depression - slowed down emotions, feeling like you were 'turned off'.
It is better to cry than to sit and watch the wall for hours - feeling sad is still better than the void of depression.

Six months ago I had to have my buddy for twenty years put to sleep, he had feline alzheimers, at night if I forgot to leave a light on he would get stuck in a room and couldn't find his way out and would start to cry, then he would forget where the litter box was, I had to have someone else take him to the vet, when I put him in the carrier he just look at me with a lost look, I fucking lost it, I'm weeping right now just thinking about him.

FUCK!

I hear ya AKU, I went through a similar experience last year, over the summer. Our last cat, at 15 years old, was having kidney failure - something that claimed the life of our cat before her. I remember it was early in the morning, most likely around 3:00 a.m., and I had been watching her waste away, pitifully hoping she would maybe recover. This was after months of running her to the vet, over a thousand or so dollars in different treatments, and she was in pain.

I took the decision upon myself to put her out of her misery, I woke my mother up to let her know I was leaving with the cat to the 24 hour animal hospital, I couldn't stand seeing her like that anymore.

The animal hospital was empty, the girl working the graveyard shift showed me in and took care of the cat right away, while I was asked to wait in a consultation room. I was a mess, disheveled, crying, a wreck, on a Friday night when most of my peers were out partying and living life, I was putting one of the only things I loved to death.

I was able to say one last goodbye to her while she lay on the operating table, I was sobbing and wailing (I was alone), asking her what should I do, but I knew she had to be put asleep or keep suffering until death. The doctor who put her down was very compassionate, she gave me a hug and wished me the best when I left.

That morning I buried her in the backyard next to our other cat who past away.

I'm not one disposed to crying, on the rare occation when I do feel somthing deep down, I'll hold it in, the most outward reaction I'll get is a welling up in my eyes. However, maybe once every few years, I will wake up sobbing, pillows completely drenched from tears. I always vaugley remember dreaming somthing that makes me cry uncontrollably, but as soon as I wake the feeling dissapears and I stop crying. I always assumed it was just an involuntary stress reaction that happens from emotional suppression, its comming out whether I like it or not... almost like having a wet dream if you don't masterbate often enough.

I mostly cry during movies, including animated films when turtles die dramatic deaths. The only reason I can still claim any dignity is because it's pretty much the only time I cry.

Sometimes i do, butt im really good at holding it in. Mostly when i am crying it is because of a oneitis or loneliness. it usually happens at night as im trying to go to bed. i don't bother to hold it in, there is no reason to.

I don't cry anymore. I've shed all the tears I have left to shed months ago.

Yes, I cry pretty often these days....

Loneliness and hopelessness.
