My first 2 oneitii were my age. After them (i.e. from the time I was 22 onward), they began to get progressively younger over the years until my last one - she was 12 years younger.

So far... same year as me or about 3 years younger. But they all tend to be young-looking, of course!

I haven't had many oneitis, but yes a few were. I don't think it's necessarily a daddy thing, but I can sort of see the idea of that. No, it's more a maturity/emotional compatibility. The feeling of being more at ease with someone a bit younger, because it generally matches your own emotional development. That sort of thing. And yes also the idea of playing catch up a little bit, and the sense of missing out. True though, I think there is also an element of wanting to protect too.

My previous one was seven months older than me. The current one is two years younger. I tend to prefer them to be around my own age, give or take a few years.

Usually...stuck at early 20s to be the ideal. Perhaps it's the formative years when women are in their prime that attracts me because I so missed out on that and I still hold up the ideal. (however unrealistic)

This is one area where Gilmartin's studies might ring true, at least in my case. I get older, my objects of desire generally stay the same age. I am in my early thirties. The coffehouse girl...don't know her age exactly but she looked early 20s. My oneitis of 10 years (off and on)...4 years younger (met her when I was in my early 20s). KFC girl...looks no more than 20. On and on.

All of them have been a little bit younger than me. Usually by 1-3 years.
