Enchanting shit in Skyrim is pretty damn cool. I've got my enchanting skill up pretty high now, so I've 4 pieces of clothing (robes, necklace, circlet, and a ring) all with the enchantment whereby Destruction spells cost 23% less Magicka. It means that my Destruction spells aren't really costing me any Magicka to cast.

It's crazy fun overcharging Fireballs, Ice Spears or Thunderbolts, and doing it continously without losing any Magicka. :D

I have a wierd way of playing most elderscroll games, I never seem able to stick to a plan. I jump from being an archer, to a mage, to a one handed barbarian. And like many games I play, I typically just use whatever I find rather than make stuff.

My problem has been for this game and other elderscrolls is that I'm constantly 1 pound away from being overburdened. My house is a trash heap of random stuff - a lot of it good stuff. I should say "houses" at this point. I just miss stacking things in morrowind.

Wow, that is exactly how I play. Started off as an archer with sneak, now I'm trying out daggers and magic. 90% of my playtime is spent looking in barrels, urns, bodies, sacks, and chests.

This made me love indie/experimental game designers even more than I previously did (which is a lot): http://vimeo.com/36823204

One of the games shown in that video is Journey, by the same company that made Flower, Cloud and flOw. Some gameplay:

I love steam and hate steam, but one thing is for sure, I keep going back to classics. Steam allows me to reload old games without having to find that 7th CD to install something.

These days, I will load up about 30 different games from my past and play each one for a few minutes. I miss the really old days of just having 2 games for my NES. Mario and Galaga. Now I have to flip a 500 sided coin. And some of the soundtracks for games, omg! I have a collection of music that never goes on the radio.

There should be a music awards for video games.

Yeah, Xanatos. I kind of miss it when you'd only be able to afford two or so games back in the day. So you'd play the absolute hell out of them. These days, I have a huge stack of games (when you have no girlfriend, you spend a lot of money on yourself), play one for a while, get bored, chuck it back on the pile, play another one. We're spoiled for choice now, and I can't even decide what to play. Are we just getting old now, and games don't hold our attention like they used to?

Interestingly, the main theme of Civilization IV, Baba Yetu, won a Grammy last year, and from this year onwards, game music will be officially recognized as part of the Grammy's "visual media" category. There are also a few (but not many) awards handed out exclusively to videogame soundtracks and composers. Long time Square Enix composer Nobuo Uematsu, for example, has won a couple of well deserved awards in Japan.

What are your favourite videogame soundtracks?

Obvious choice for me, the DKC soundtrack (below, jazzy orchestral medley):

A more modern choice:

And this one, played by the composer herself:

OMG. These are my other three favorite game soundtracks.

On the topic of awards, the composer for Bastion got one too. I haven't beaten it yet, but that game deserves every possible award on earth.

EDIT: Why did you delete Time's Scar? :confused2: You just made your post 33% less cool.

I was like "WAIT THIS IS FOR PC GAMES," but you mentioned it so I just added it again.

EDIT: And Donkey Kong is here, so I guess it's a free-for-all when it comes to the platform, I'm tired leave me alone. ;A;

braid forever! seriously beautiful songs on their own but they also fit the story so well. Which is equally as beautiful.

call me mainstream but I like the halo music. Especially the original CE and 2, it got a bit over-done with 3 and reach.

I like some of the mass effect music, love the original menu song. Which is also the music when that VI is "explaining everything" to you on Ilos.

mass effect tangent! Is anyone else going absolutely bonkers with anticipation for mass effect 3?! I'm heading to pre-order it tomorrow and then doing whatever I can to make time go faster until march 6th  It's like christmas when I was 10 all over again. I'm so excited I'll have to force myself to put it down just so I don't tear through it too fast
