Just a simple thread, I'm curious to see what some of the guys (and girls) favorite female heroes are from fiction. Pick anyone from the world of film, literature, comics, anime, video games etc.

I'm really interested to see who the guys pick, so I'll start with a few of my favorites:

Lara Croft, Tomb Raider
Image
Lara's always been my girl since I was a kid, the original Tomb Raider games captured my imagination as a teen, as well as Lara herself :wink: A tough, yet civilized, British archaeologist she's the female version of Indy. I've always admired her determination and raw courage, exploring dangerous locales solo and jet-setting around the world.

The Boss, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Image
A tough as nails super-soldier, who, with her private mercenary army, won WWII for the allies. The mother of America's special forces in the world of Metal Gear Solid 3,
Spoiler: show
she's a tragic hero who actually saves the world from nuclear war by sacrificing herself.

Love the hell out of The Boss, she makes men cower in fear due to her legendary status, while being deeply stoic and existential, she acts as a surrogate mother to the hero, Naked Snake. Also notice how plain looking she is, unlike the regular video game bombshell, The Boss is a plain Jane hero.

Hell, even this guy is afraid of her;

Jackie Brown, Pam Grier

I'm a sucker for the old "Blaxploitation", which Pam Grier had her start in, but my favorite character she's played is Jackie Brown. The film had the unfortunate fate to come out after Pulp Fiction, and was passed over by critics. In the film Grier plays a washed up flight attendant running drugs for a gun dealer (played by the amazing Sam Jackson), what's awesome about her character in the film, is how she plays the criminals to come out on top in the end.

A middle aged women isn't a common pick for a female hero, but her street-smarts and cunning I admire, playing a dangerous game with criminals and winning.

I remember after work there was a local little bar, before I'd catch the train back to San Francisco sometimes an episode of "Xeena The Warrior Princess" would be on. That girl had really pretty blue eyes. I'd always down a beer or two and watch before catching the train......

Might be more, but there are two that come to mind for me....

Jean Grey from X-Men....hot redhead, compassionate, and she went for the dork (Cyclops) instead of the bad boy (Wolverine).

Image

Kate Austen from Lost....hot alpha female with an interesting (albeit criminal) backstory, but had a heart of gold.

From TV, the one I remember the most was Nikita from La Femme Nikita. I was in love with her. Very smart and skilled, sometimes even cute (when she felt like it), but also deeply sensitive and tormented inside. And Peta Wilson was just ideal for the role, no one else could have played Nikita like she did.

From videogames, April Ryan is an easy choice. There's a shortage of believable female protagonists in games but April is not only believable, but has a really cool and charismatic personality (in The Longest Journey, that is; they made her a lot darker in the sequel).

And I want to play MGS3 now.

Another from the world of Anime in response to AKU;

Sayla Mass, Mobile Suit Gundam
Image
A strong, independent, woman (notice a trend?) Sayla is a young civilian swept up into a future war between earth and space, but her war is even more personal,
Spoiler: show
a bitter rivalry between her long-lost brother and a young man she cares deeply about.
