I looked into that a few years ago. One of the cryonicists I know, Michael Riskin, has a sex therapy practice in Orange County, CA, where his clients work with sex surrogates.

I have doubts about sexual surrogacy. I would like to see data about whether incels who receive this sort of treatment can then go on to have regular sexual relationships.

Gilmartin, an American psychologist who originally used this term, conducted research studies involving two hundred heterosexual men aged 19 - 24 and an additional one hundred men aged 35 -50. Fortunately, a more enlightened argument is now increasingly being made in mainstream clinical psychology that intimacy issues are so unique and core to one's humanity that love-shyness does constitute a legitimate area of clinical attention.

ICASA acknowledges the contribution to this section that has been made by the authors on 'Love-Shyness' in Wikipedia.

It's ironic that the Wikipedia article doesn't exist any more, because of a few fascist editors who cited its lack of acceptance in "mainstream clinical psychology" as reason enough to erase the article.

I am curious about this method of recovery. I would prefer to see comments from people who have actually gone through with this before I go and spend a fortune on it.

The people who have come up with this therapy have simply ripped off an old ancient eastern practice and repackaged it for commercial gain.

I think it cannot be compared with a prostitute however one can have luck if she is willing to understand and talk about it.

Surrogate Partner Therapy applies in case it fits the cause of being incel. For instance fear of intimacy, problems in one´s self image as a sexual human being or expressing this. Of course it will help building sexual self confidence.

Someone who is having unconcious blocking thoughts, problems with self esteem, self worth or simply cannot imagine ever being in a relationship I guess regular therapies suit as well.

Apart from that there can be social problems having to do with communication, making a real connection.

I understood that Gilmartin proposed surrogates that would actually give sex - but it is a long time since I read his ideas.

I agree with you, most men here need help with the initial stages of starting a relationship. If they want to purchase sex, they can one way or another. I also do not think people with LS want to be slurred by the implication that all they want is loveless sex.

It seems to me, that help like this can really target the root problem that LS people experience - far more relevant than being diagnosed with a 'social disorder' and being prescribed antidepressants that make some impotent! I would guess that it would have helped me back when I was LS.

Men may find the idea of enrolling for this course scary, but in a way that is a good sign. Confronting some of the tension that LS men find in the area of romance, is going to be scary, but I would guess it is less scary than actually trying to ask a girl out, and if they can manage it, it could pay off handsomely.

This is one way to confront the real problem.
